Atkinsons Royal Irish Poplin and Finest Silk Ties
In 1820 Richard Atkinson, the then Lord Mayor of Dublin, asked a group of weavers to make their Irish poplin for his shop. By 1837, Mr. Atkinson's Irish poplin fabric was so popular that Queen Victoria granted Atkinson's a Royal Warrant. From the early 1900s, Atkinsons specialised in ties.
Today's Atkinsons Royal Irish Poplin is a beautiful 50-50 blend of the finest silk and Australian merino wool. It means Silk and Wool ties that drape just like pure Silk Ties but have a slightly matt finish. Their pure finest Silk ties have sheen and texture that only quality silk ties have. Both the 100% Silk ties and the Poplin 50-50 Silk-Merino are embroidered in silk thread.
