Celebrating 30 Years: Elm of Burford’s remarkable journey

This year, Elm of Burford celebrates a very special anniversary. It’s the business’s 30th birthday, and what an incredible journey it’s been – one filled with moments of warmth, community, and a shared love for quality country clothing.

It all began back in 1993 when the Marshall family, having discovered the rich craftsmanship of Australia and New Zealand, had a unique idea. Starting off selling at local country shows, Elizabeth and Les Marshall, from whom the business gets its name, found a home for their business in the charming Cotswold town of Burford. Their initial dream was simple yet profound: to bring the world’s best apparel to the UK. And today we can proudly say that we’ve accomplished just that.

What truly sets Elm of Burford apart is our deep-rooted commitment to authenticity and quality.

Our journey alongside our incredible suppliers has taught us to deeply understand our customer’s preferences and needs, shaping us into the brand we are today. From iconic brands like Schöffel, Barbour, RM Williams and  Akubra to lesser-known brands and hidden gems, each piece we offer reflects the heart and soul of craftsmanship and the best of the best.

But what truly keeps us going is the incredible warmth and unwavering support of our customers, some of whom have been by our side since the beginning. As the Elm of Burford community has grown over the years, we’ve been touched by your support. Sending their warmest greetings from the West Coast of Scotland, the Marshall family want to thank you. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re raising a toast to you, as the heart of Elm of Burford.

Here’s to 30 remarkable years, and to many more ahead, filled with community, quality, and the simple joys that country clothing brings. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
