The Highland Field Sports Fair
The Fair offers a diversity of entertainments and activities for all of the family, from crèche facilities to archery! The emphasis is on field sports activities with competitions in fly casting, gun dog handling, and clay pigeon shooting.
Take your pets for the day and children can enter them into the children’s pets parade or, if you have a terrier, try out the terrier races. Activities in the main ring differ from year to year but you may see gun dog or fly-casting demonstrations, pipe bands, falconry displays, and much more.
There is an abundance of stalls selling the best of Scottish produce and there could be anything from traditional fare such as Venison to Arbroath Smokies, or you could purchase a Scottish made dog harness or walking stick.
From around 11.00 am each day, there is a full range of activities and displays within the Main Ring – Pipe Bands, a spectacular Birds of Prey demonstration, Tug of War, Gundog and Fishing demonstrations, pets parade, Foxhounds and Terrier racing are among some of the highlights on offer. Add to this the appearance of Dalriada Highland, who will be demonstrating a mock up of a stalk on a deer on a remote hillside.
The Fair is held at Moy Estate which is about 10 miles south of Inverness on the A9 Inverness to Perth road. Turn left just after Daviot on to B9154 and follow signs to Field Sports Fair.
